Sugar Not Fire

I have been a Christian for two decades now and I have had my stupid moments (there probably some more in the future) but something must be wrong with the water at a church in Florida. I just read that this church is planning to burn another religions holy book. That is stupid. (People are not stupid, people do stupid things)

I am positive and unashamed that only way of salvation is repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ and it does not hurt me if others believe different. I am equally sure that Jesus instructed us to act with kindness to all even those who are not Christians. As well I know that it is wrong to try and force someone to believe in Jesus yet we should try to persuade.

In order to share the good news of Jesus you have to have a willing audience. All a book burning is going to do build a wedge between those that are lost and those that should be trying to reach them. It serves no purpose other than to get the churches name in the newspapers.

When two of Jesus disciples wanted to call fire from heaven to destroy a village that had rejected the living Jesus, Scripture records "But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them." And they went to another village." (Luke 9:55-56, NKJV).
