Alex and the Cat

Years ago we lived in house with a sliding glass door that was extremely difficult to open and close. Our cat liked to go outside. We would let her in and out by the carport door. One day she wanted in through the sliding glass door. Ronny said she was not going to let her in that door. The carport door is the proper way.

Jesus is the proper way to Heaven. Like the cat we try many times to get in our own way but it won’t work. Jesus said “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture” (John 10:9). We need to look towards Jesus for the proper way.

Alex wanted her to come in but she would not come in the right way when we opened the carport door and called. So Alex went out the carport door, walked around the house, picked her up and brought her around in through the carport door.

Jesus likewise knows we are trying to come our own way. So He comes and gets us. He can bring us through the right door. “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10).

I hope that you are not stubborn like the cat and beat you head against the wrong way door. But rather you come when called. Jesus said, “... the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.” (John 10:3).

On that day Alex did not go get any of the other cats in the neighborhood for they did not belong to us. Jesus will save all his but there are some not his. Jesus said “All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats” (Matthew 25:32). He explained his people will get eternal life and the rest get eternal destruction for they reject Him.

I suggest that you come while Jesus is calling. If you are reading this because someone handed the newsletter to you or sent you the web link, understand that it is not your friend leading you to Jesus. It is Jesus using your friend to call you to Himself. Had the cat put up a fight Alex would not have brought her in. Jesus calls but he is not going to fight you.
